Our data standard
Verified data. Human scouting.
Player and team facts come from identified providers or evidence-backed submissions approved by administrators. Evaluations and comments are written by users and attributed to their authors.
No AI-generated filler.
We do not generate statistics, player facts, headshots or scouting reports to fill data gaps. An unavailable value stays unavailable. Every displayed fact should have a traceable source; a scouting opinion should have an identifiable author.
School map locations
CollegeFootballData team directory ↗
Map markers use home football venue coordinates from the CFBD team directory. Each school is matched by exact name and retains its provider team ID and the snapshot retrieval date. No campus locations or missing coordinates are guessed.
Player facts & season production
Roster facts, recruiting records, participation and season production come from CFBD. Imports match provider athlete IDs, preserve the source season, and retain retrieval dates. Refreshes are reviewed before updating the prospect dataset.
Headshots & school marks
The roster feed provides player and team IDs and image URLs. A photo is displayed only when its ID, full name, current school and season match. Ambiguous or missing matches use initials.
Individual game production
ESPN API box scores via SportsDataverse ↗
Player box scores are joined to completed games using game and team IDs. Player ID, name, school and season must agree with the verified roster. Each recorded game links to its source box score. Missing entries remain unavailable.
Opponent rankings at game time
ESPN weekly AP polls via SportsDataverse ↗
Opponent ranks use the AP poll entering the game's week, joined by season, week and provider team ID. Today's rankings are never substituted for historical rankings. Missing poll coverage stays unavailable.
User-submitted factual corrections
Administrator review required
User-supplied player or team facts require supporting evidence and administrator approval before entering the prospect dataset. Scouting opinions do not overwrite sourced facts.
Facts, opinions and calculated signals stay distinct.
Production percentiles and consensus grades are calculated from sourced statistics and user evaluations. They are labeled as signals, not provider facts or draft projections. Community evaluations and comments publish under their authors’ names; factual submissions require administrator review.
Retrieval dates describe when Open Scout received a snapshot, not a promise of live coverage. Different providers may have different coverage. Missing stats are never converted into zero, and a missing game entry does not prove a player did not participate.
